OSUN CEU Global Teaching Fellowship Program at the Babes-Bolyai University Faculty of Political, Administrative and Communication Sciences,  and the Department of Sociology Cluj-Napoca, Romania (video).

Call for applications for the (whole) academic year 2024/25 (October 2024 – June 2025), one semester of the academic year, Fall 2024 (October 2024 – February 2025), and/or Spring 2025 (March – June 2025).

Babes-Bolyai University Faculty of Political, Administrative and Communication Sciences (FSPAC) in partnership with STAR-UBB Institute and the Department of Sociology in Cluj-Napoca, Romania invites applications for the position of Visiting Teaching Fellow, to teach courses in Political Science, Public Administration, Journalism and Anthropology, Social Anthropology and Sociology.

Several positions are open, at the Faculty of Political, Administrative and Communication Sciences (FSPAC) and at the Department of Sociology.

Eligible applicants include Ph.D. graduates who, by the beginning of the Fellowship received their Ph.D. degree from the CEU or an OSUN or CIVICA institution and advanced (e.g. ABD all but dissertation) Ph.D. candidates from the institutions mentioned above.

(1) Faculty of Political, Administrative and Communication Sciences (FSPAC)

The position will entail teaching 2-4 hours of seminar classes in the case of PhD students, and 2-4 hours of course classes for doctoral graduates, on undergraduate level in English. Applicants have the choice among currently offered courses in English with the syllabi to be adjusted to the expertise of the selected Fellow.

(2) Department of Sociology 

The successful candidates will teach up to two courses, which will be set by the Department of Sociology at UBB, in agreement with the Fellow. The Fellow will have the possibility to offer at least one course on his/her special area of expertise, in coordination with the department. The language of teaching should be English. Candidates should discuss the Syllabus of their specialized course with their supervisor and the department at UBB in advance.

Prospective fellows are invited to consult the curricula of the BA programs in Sociology and Anthropology, as well as the MA program in Sociological research for an overview of existing courses. Fellows are encouraged to propose elective courses in English that either supplement existing courses or further develop their topics.

The first successful candidate will receive free accommodation on campus from UBB, the second successful candidate will benefit at request from subsidized accommodation, additionally successful candidates will receive a contribution from CEU.

From OSUN-CIVICA applicants:

  • English language proficiency minimum level C1 – if the Ph.D. studies were not conducted in English.

OSUN-CIVICA GTFP Fellows will have a research supervisor at the CEU Democracy Institute. If there is a Faculty member or Researcher at the CEU Democracy Institute who you think would be a good match, please include this in your application.
